What organization is applicable to

All requirements of this International Standard are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product provided. However, manufacturing or processing companies were adopting this standard mostly. In recent years, relating to the rapid development of service sector and their ascending competition, the application of the standard in service sector organization is accelerating.

 

Philosophy of the standard

“Quality” it is a subjective concept. Thus, within concept of quality management system, “quality” has been defined that fulfillment of requirement. In order to provide their product or service in fulfillment of requirement, organization shall control and manage the processes which are applicable to the product provision.  That’s why the application of a system of processes within an organization, together with the identification and interactions of these processes, and their management to produce the desired outcome, can be referred to as the "process approach".

There are two different and important concepts, occupational health and safety. OHSAS18001 does not apply only for personnel in organization, it also covers visitors, neighbors, those who works on behalf of organization as well.

Organization shall identify their hazards in their all over organization and determine their risks for human life and health and then they need to determine and control necessary controls in order to minimize the risk.
